Is this the secret to perfecting your push ups? Fitness queen Kayla Itsines wows millions with her workout hack – and all you need is a resistance band

  • Australian fitness star Kayla Itsines has shared a banded push up hack
  • The personal trainer, 30, first saw the clever hack on TikTok and tried it herself
  • The tip involves placing a resistance band around your arms for support
  • It’s ideal to help transition from modified push ups to push ups on your toes

Fitness queen Kayla Itsines has shared a simple hack to improve and perfect your push ups while working out at home.

The 30-year-old personal trainer from Adelaide, South Australia, said the tip involves placing a resistance band around your arms to support your body during the movement.

When you do your push up, the resistance from the band helps you to transition from modified push ups on your knees to push ups on your toes.

Demonstrating the fitness tactic, Kayla said it worked well and she would definitely recommend it to clients who find push ups hard.

Push ups can often be quite challenging to perform correctly as the movement involves full-body strength.

‘Ok…wait a sec!! THIS WORKS!! (And if you can’t tell by my face I am very happy that it actually did),’ Kayla wrote on Instagram.

To execute the movement, all you need to do is place your arms into the loop of the resistance band and place it above your elbows, then simply perform the push up.

‘Once you start doing your push ups, it acts like a support and assists you in performing the movement!’ Kayla said.

‘It works in a similar way to how resistance bands work when you are trying to practice pull ups!! You can even use different resistance strengths like you would in a resistance band pull up.’

To her surprise, Kayla said the fitness tactic worked well and demonstrated the motion in a short video posted on social media (pictured)
