After what must feel like an eternity for fans, Maurizio Sarri has finally been named Chelsea boss and can crack on moulding his own side for the coming season.
The protracted move, which had been complicated by the sacking of Antonio Conte and an impending £9million legal battle, has left the former Napoli man with less than four weeks to shape his squad in his vision.
The capture of Jorginho from under the noses of Manchester City is a major coup for the Blues, but Sarri will be desperate for more faces through the door before August 9.
Here, Sportsmail look at the targets that could be making their way to Stamford Bridge before the season kicks off.
Maurizio Sarri has been unveiled as the new Chelsea manager for the upcoming campaign
Aleksandr Golovin
Previously linked with a Premier League move to West Ham, The central midfielder was a key part of a Russia squad that stunned Spain and beat all expectations at the World Cup this summer.
His electrifying pace was there for all to see at the tournament, with only six players completing more sprints of them, all of whom played at least one more match than him.
With such a strong showing on a global stage, there is likely to be competition for his signature, with Juventus also interested.
Aleksandr Golovin shone at the World Cup in Russia and is also wanted by Juventus
Alisson Becker
Strongly linked with Liverpool as they bid to sort out their own goalkeeping crisis, but after beating one of their rivals to a Serie A gem, Chelsea will be confident they can do so again.
Noises being made by Thibaut Courtois could add a sense of urgency to any deal, with the Belgian hinting he is ready to move on from Stamford Bridge.
Daniele Rugani
The 23-year-old has been described as a ‘top priority’ for the Blues as they look to strengthen in defence.
With Andreas Christensen failing to cement his place in the Chelsea side during his first full season in the squad, there is a clamoring for more defensive resolve and the 23-year-old, with three Serie A titles to his name already, fits the bill.
Gonzalo Higuain
Having already played under Sarri at Napoli, the Italian boss will know exactly what he is getting in the form of the 30-year-old striker.
With a central role in the Juventus side no longer a given following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, a move to west London may be an easier sell.
Christian Pulisic
The USA winger is still only 19 years of age but made 42 appearances for Borussia Dortmund last season across all competitions and already has 21 caps for his country.
With Willian looking set to leave, and Eden Hazard’s future also in the balance after a strong World Cup showing, a move for the Bundesliga star could be borne out of necessity as well as desire.
