Five injured after car hits into pedestrians in London

Five people have been injured after a car smashed into pedestrians in London.

Two people involved in the incident on Stockwell Road are critically injured.

The South London road remains closed and the Metropolitan Police say the incident, which happened at around 3am last night, is not linked to terrorism.

Footage posted on social media from the scene appears to show glass scattered across the floor and lampposts which had been knocked over into the road.

The road is closed between Brixton and Stockwell and expected to remain closed for the remainder of the morning while police carry out their investigations.

TfL Traffic News posted on Twitter: ‘A203 Stockwell Road is closed both ways btwn Sidney Rd and Stockwell Park Walk following an overnight police incident & ongoing investigation.

‘Traffic is currently flowing well locally on diversion in the area though delays may occur later.’

More follows.
