Five injured as Tenerife pleasure boat bursts into flames

Five people have been injured in an explosion that sunk a pleasure boat in the south of Tenerife, local media reports say.

It is not clear what caused the explosion, which sent a plume of black smoke billowing into the sky.

One report said those on-board managed to disembark from the fire-engulfed vessel into the sea where they were rescued by other boats.

None of those hurts were tourists.

Perched off the west coast of Africa, Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and a  firm favourite with British holidaymakers.

It has good weather all year round and you often it is not possible to tell the difference between summer and winter.
