Five-year-old boy punched in the head by gang of children

  • Their mother blasted the kids’ parents for neglecting their responsibilities

A five-year-old boy has allegedly been attacked by a group of violent older children while playing on a playground inside a Sunshine Coast Bunnings Warehouse.

The child and his eight-year-old brother were being monitored by their grandmother inside the Caloundra store, but she grew concerned after not seeing them for five minutes.

The grandmother sprung into action when she heard the youngest crying from the top of a fort, but felt too threatened to then confront the bullies’ parents.

In an angry Facebook rant following Saturday’s incident, the boy’s mother detailed how the attack unfolded, explaining her boys had been innocently playing alone before being set on.

‘After not being able to spot the boys for five minutes within the maze of tunnels, their nan decided to take a closer look and heard our five-year-old crying up in the fort.’

‘He had been playing a game of ‘hide n seek’ with his brother when a group of five kids ganged up on him.’

The mother said a girl that looked about eight years old was ring-leading four boys, and instructing them to ‘punch him and pull on his shirt’, adding her youngest ‘was punched in the head’.

The boy’s older brother came to the rescue and stood up to the bullies, but only for them to turn and attack him as well.

‘My eight-year-old stayed with his little brother (I could not be prouder) because he was afraid the kids would attack his brother again if he’d climbed down to get help,’ the mother wrote.

‘My son was so distressed and unfortunately these children got away with their disgusting behaviour.’

The concerned mother’s post went on to blast other parents for ‘neglecting their responsibilities’ to ‘teach, correct and discipline’ their children adequately.

‘It is your job as a parent! You can’t sit back and expect day care or school to teach morals, manners and respect of others to your kids.’
