Five young boys have lost their father after what started as a routine motorbike ride turned deadly.

Peter Prince, 41, had gone for a morning ride with a friend on Sunday and told his partner over the phone he would be home by midday.

But Mr Prince, who lived in Toukley on the NSW Central Coast, was involved in a multi-vehicle crash and never made it back to his partner and five young sons.

Emergency services were called to Great North Road in Wollombi at about 10:40am where officers discovered three motorbikes had collided.

NSW Police said a man, who has since been identified as Mr Prince, was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

‘Peter was out having a cruise on a motorbike, something that he loved to do, when tragedy struck and he was taken from his family in a cruel accident,’ his brother, John, wrote on a GoFundMe page.

He said Peter was a ‘very loyal’ person who ‘just liked to play with cars and his motorbikes’ and that it helped knowing he died doing something he loved.

‘I just want to help the younger ones with school if they need it or his older ones with a car or stuff like that,’ John told Daily Mail Australia on Thursday.

Mr Prince’s five sons, aged between eight and 14-years-old, have a ‘remarkable resemblance to their Dad’ according to their uncle.

He said they ‘share many of his endearing traits – they are all beautiful lovable larrikins’.

The devastated family are currently planning the funeral, and are hoping to raise $5,500 to cover the costs.

Any leftover money left over will go towards supporting Mr Prince’s five sons.

Loved ones have shared tributes to the father-of-five online.

His father-in-law remembered Mr Prince as a ‘wild man full of life and love for his family’ in a post to social media.

‘I considered you my wild Son in Law and always had a great story to tell every time I saw you. You will be deeply missed mate,’ he said.

A friend wrote in a touching tribute: ‘Peter, you were always there if I needed you, as I was for you. And I thank you for that. I’ll do what ever I can for your boys.’

The two other riders involved in the crash – men aged 39 and 36 – were treated for leg and chest injuries and were taken to hospital in stable conditions.

NSW Police said an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
