Not only is changing a diaper in the cabin unpleasant for the other people onboard, but it is also incredibly unhygienic.

Barbara explained that people eat and drink on their tray tables. They also sometimes rest their heads on them to sleep.

‘Please don’t do it,’ she warned.

The flight attendant noted that if you have to change a child’s diaper during a flight, you need to use the bathroom, where there is a fold-down changing table available.

‘You must never flush the diaper down the toilet. Instead, you must dispose of it in the trash bin,’ she added.

‘Also, never give the dirty diaper to the flight attendant because that is disgusting.’

The viral video has been viewed more than 155,000 times and has received hundreds of comments from appalled viewers.

‘Nooooooooo,’ one person wrote.

Another responded: ‘I saw something just as horrible today, a mother who wanted to change her baby’s diaper in a supermarket in the packing area at checkout.’

‘What a horror,’ someone else agreed.

A number of people recalled all the times they used their tray tables to eat and sleep on previous flights.

For many viewers, Barbara’s story was a reminder to wipe down their tray tables as soon as they sit down on a flight.

‘I’m going to take a tablecloth with me for the plane,’ one viewer vowed.

‘Thank you, now I will bring wet towels,’ someone else shared.

‘I’m carrying disinfectant wipes to clean the table and screen,’ another added.
