Florida man, 82, arrested for harassing a flight attendant and allegedly calling her a racial slur

A Florida man has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted a flight attendant and called her a racial slur.

George Francis Alexander, 82, was on an American Airlines flight on Thursday from Philadelphia to Fort Myers when the incident occurred, according to The News-Press.

Alexander, from North Fort Myers, reportedly approached the unnamed attendant from behind as she was serving drinks.

He then allegedly poked her in the back and demanded that she move, calling her a racial slur in the process.

After the flight attendant asked him to stop, Alexander began to taunt her, it is claimed.

‘You’re too big for this job; you’re too fat, overweight,’ he said and then proceeded to walk around her.

Alexander was arrested by authorities at Southwest Florida International Airport and charged with battery and interference with aircraft operations.

He was booked in Lee County Jail on Friday but was released after posting a $1,000 bond.

He is scheduled to make a court appearance on June 26.

DailyMail.com found that Alexander’s previous record only consists of one traffic infraction for failure to stop at a steady red signal in December 2009.

This is not the first time this year that someone has been arrested at Southwest Florida International for their conduct on a flight.

In January, Dante Bencivenga, 58, was taken into custody after he left urine all over the floor of a bathroom on a Spirit Airlines flight.

Bencivenga allegedly became ‘belligerent’ after he was asked to leave the Michigan-bound flight, which was parked at the gate, according to the Miami Herald.

He refused to leave the concourse even after police told him he would be arrested for trespassing.

Bencivenga was booked into the Lee County Jail on charges of trespassing and disorderly intoxication in a public place.

He was also banned from the airport for at least a year unless it is for official business.
