Florida wildlife trapper is viciously mauled by a 200lb BOAR as he tried to stop animal attacking children – and says he’s had to ‘dodge death on multiple occasions’ in his line of work

  • Trapper James Dean, 56, was attacked by the boar on October 21 after he was called to the Melbourne neighborhood where the boar was pestering the kids

A wildlife trapper in Florida barely escaped with his life after he was brutally mauled by a 200lb boar that was bothering children. 

Trapper James Dean, 56, was attacked by the large beast on October 21 after he was called to the Melbourne neighborhood where the boar was pestering the kids.

Dean managed to trap the wild boar and put it inside his transport cage that was sitting on the bed of his truck, according to a GoFundMe set up by his son – Christian.

The aggressive animal then tried getting out of the cage, causing Dean to use his legs to kick it back inside. 

But the boar grabbed a hold of Dean’s leg and sent him crashing to the ground before attacking him. The boar tore through Dean’s left leg and left behind a huge gash.

Dean was rushed to the trauma center at the Holmes Regional Medical Center where he had to undergo seven different surgeries.

His family made a GoFundMe to raise money for his medical bills. They are asking for $50,000

‘We are collecting these funds to not only cover medical bills but also his living expenses due to the fact he is unable to work for an indefinite amount of time,’ Christian said in the fundraiser that is asking for $50,000. 

Dean explained to Click Orlando that he wasn’t sure if he was going to survive the attack but asserted that he wants to get back to work.

‘I still want to go back to work. I enjoy getting out in the public and just doing something good for the community,’ Dean said.

‘He’s definitely dodged death on multiple occasions,’ Christian shared. 

It is unknown what the current status of the boar.
