In the fast-moving world of make-up, being at the top of your brow game counts.
Squiggles, barbed wires and feathered brows have all been doing the rounds on Instagram of late, but in keeping with all things glitter, it’s foil brows which are breaking new ground.
Brisbane make-up artist Nicole Tait believes the latest shimmering beauty trend, seen at music festivals, has significantly influenced the style.
Brisbane-based Nicole Tait said she took inspiration for her brow look from the glitter trends recently seen at music big music festivals
The 22-year-old said her take on the hologram brow has been gaining traction online, with many wanting to know her techique
‘When people go to festivals, they like to go all out and wear glitter everywhere,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.
‘Festival looks are so beautiful.’
The 22-year-old who creates mostly formal make-up looks for her clients, revealed her take on the foil brow, which has been gaining traction on social media.
So far the image has been liked by more than 1,000 people, and she said plenty have asked her to share her secret behind the look.
Before branching out into brows, Nicole experimented with glitter stars as eye makeup
Cutting up small pieces and pasting them to the lash line gives this eye-liner a three-dimensional look

While the professional doesn’t give too much away on her technique, she did let slip how she came to create the fashion-forward look.
‘I had been doing looks with confetti stars around the eye, and had wanted to try them on the brows for something different,’ Nicole said.
‘So I cut the stars into different shapes and use eyelash glue to glue them into place,’
‘I pretty much follow the shape of the hairs and hope for the best.’
The trend can be interpreted in a number of different ways. Some artists use reflective material to cover the brow entirely
Foil can also be used to create the fashion-forward brows
Pieces of gold flake applied directly on to the brow can be used to create a textured appearance
Other artists inspired by the trend use gold foil, aluminium foil, or any other reflective, shiny material to create the brows.
Some use Nicole’s technique of pasting bits along the arches’ hairs, while others cover up the brow with a cut out foil piece.
Although the fresh-thinking makeup artist concedes it’s unlikely the brow style will become an ‘everyday look’ – she hasn’t tried it in public herself – she hopes it’s one that will take off, especially among those looking for something different.
Nicole admits the trend could be as fleeting as the rest, she also believes anything is possible when it comes to creating boundary breaking makeup looks
She also admitted that as far as trends go, it’s possible this one could be as fleeting as the rest.
But when it comes to boundary breaking makeup looks, she says anything is possible.
‘It’s all about trying to be creative, and coming up with things you haven’t seen before,’ Nicole added.
‘I am always excited by what’s new. There are so many people contributing, you never know what is going to be created,’ she concluded.
