One of Australia’s busiest food delivery companies is forced to move to Sydney after Melbourne distribution centre is shut down because of COVID-19

A major food delivery service has moved Victorian operations to Sydney after a COVID-19 outbreak at its distribution centre.
Health authorities confirmed on Monday eight cases linked Marley Spoon’s warehouse at Altona North , south of Melbourne, were under investigation.
Last week Marley Spoon revealed four of the eight cases were employees, forcing team members into self-isolation and the closure of the building.

The company has temporarily moved all order fulfilment to its Sydney warehouse while the Victorian site undergoes a deep clean.
Marley Spoon managing director Rolf Weber said the company only expects minor disruptions to its delivery service.
‘Our customers will continue to receive their orders from our Sydney facility in the meantime,’ he said.
‘We only expect minor interruptions for a couple of days.’
Mr Weber said the company was focused on ‘thorough contact tracing’ and providing financial assistance to team members affected by the outbreak.
‘We can’t guarantee that tomorrow all will be fine,’ he said.
‘As of now, we are confident that Marley Spoon will continue to deliver our customers’ orders with no or very limited impact over the next few weeks.’
The popular service was founded in 2014 and delivers fresh pre-portioned ingredients every week which are based on regularly updated recipes.
‘Marley Spoon is all about inspiring you to cook recipes from scratch in six easy steps,’ a company statement read.
‘With a focus on locally sourced, pre-portioned ingredients for zero food waste and easy recipes.’
The warehouse closure comes as Victoria recorded 322 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest daily number since July 29, and 19 deaths, bringing the state’s toll to 228 and the national figure to 313.
