Footage of high school basketball player committing ‘dirty foul’

Footage of a high school basketball game getting a bit out of hand over the weekend is going viral after one of the players  was captured committing a dirty foul on his opponent to stop him from scoring. 

During the Kansas Class-1A-I State Semifinals on Friday, Centralia’s Nathan Rempe can be seen chasing Hanover’s Thomas Atkins on a fastbreak.

As Atkins leaps for the uncontested dunk, however, Rempe shoves him from the back, propelling him right into the stanchion with frighting force.

The footage was later posted to social media, where it quickly went viral, garnering more than 3.9 million views on Twitter alone

That led to the Hanover star to momentarily exit the game with an injury.

A flagrant foul was assessed to Centralia’s Rempe for the rough play, who was nevertheles allowed to stay in the game. 

Atkins was luckily able to return and finish the remainder of semi-finals game, scoring 18 points in the contest.

Hanover (23-1) emerged triumphant in an overtime win, according to 247sports.com, and the school will now face undefeated South Gray in the final.

Kansas State High School Activities Association executive director, Gary Musselman, released a statement shortly after Friday’s game and addressed the issue. 

‘The coaching staff handled to situation appropriately,’ Musselman said. ‘The school would need to deal and did deal with the situation with the young man.’
