A fed-up Carlton supporter has slammed the inept performance of his team in hilarious fashion on live radio following the Blues’ 20-point defeat at the hands of Hawthorn on Thursday night.

‘Alex’ rang the 3AW Radio talkback line post-match and delivered a passionate rant that had the station’s hosts singing his praises.

‘My grandfather came to this country after World War Two, he was a Carlton man,’ he began.

‘My father is a Carlton man and unfortunately I was born a Carlton man.

‘Now experts say breaking the cycle of intergenerational trauma is incredibly difficult and painful.

‘But tomorrow [Friday] my partner is six months pregnant. I am going out to buy a Hawthorn jersey [for the baby] I am putting a stop to it. It ends with me.

Carlton coach Michael Voss insists his under pressure team can learn to close out games in the second half

‘We have a Coleman medallist, a dual Brownlow medallist, an All-Australian fullback and great ruck players and we still can’t get it done.

‘We got beaten last week by a pack of teenagers [Richmond] who are coached by an Albanian [Adam Yze].

‘And now this week another [poor] second-half performance. I am sick of it.’

It comes as Carlton coach Michael Voss declared he isn’t concerned by his team’s second-half fade-outs as they slumped to 0-2 this season.

‘We had a few inside-50s late. No, we run out games pretty well,’ he said after the Blues didn’t kick a goal in the final term.

But questions will continue to be asked until Carlton discover that winning feeling, with the result against Hawthorn a ninth loss from their last 11 games dating back to the end of 2024.

One positive was the dynamic performance of captain Patrick Cripps, who amassed 29 disposals and a game-high 11 clearances.

Cripps knows his team has to improve – and fast.

‘It is still pretty raw. You never come out of a loss satisfied,’ the skipper said.

‘My message to the boys is if we keep playing with that effort….we will win more games than we lose.

‘We know this is a long year. But you never come into a game and want to lose and that’s why we are disappointed.’
