The colourful footy fan previously banned by the New Zealand Warriors after doing a shoey has returned – and his new post-try celebration is stomach churning.

Calley Gibbons was spotted on Friday night devouring a mouthful of jar mayonnaise in the grandstand seconds after fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad crossed the stripe against the Dragons midway through the first half in Auckland.

Supporters online were horrified at the vision, with one speaking for many when he labelled Gibbons’ antics ‘bizarre.’

Gibbons, a brickie from Auckland, was issued a life ban in August last year from the NRL club after he was seen guzzling beer from a shoe directly in front of the coaches box.

He quickly gained cult hero status from other sports fans – and eventually saw his ban overturned following an online petition which garnered thousands of signatures.

‘I was evicted from the stadium and the security guard escorted me out and told me I had a lifetime ban,’ Gibbons said last year. 

‘Your guess is as good as mine as to why I was kicked out. It’s just wrong.

‘I told them I had purchased the beer from the venue, I was not intoxicated and it was my choice as to how I consumed the beer.

‘I’m not sure if one particular security guard had it in for me. He told me, ‘You won’t be coming back here in this lifetime’.

Gibbons – also widely known as Roger ‘Shoey’ Vasa-Sheck – has been a regular in front of the coaches’ box since 2006 for Warriors’ home matches.

His father, Ron Gibbons, spent most of his life heavily involved with the club and knew club great Stacey Jones personally.

It remains to be seen what the club think of Gibbons’ latest food choice, but one thing is for certain – Andrew Webster is on track to be named NRL coach of the year, with the Warriors nestled in the top four with finals looming.

Webster replaced interim coach Jones in the off-season and has guided his team to an impressive record of 16 wins and seven defeats in his first season at the helm. 

Veteran halfback Shaun Johnson has turned back the clock – and the likes of Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Addin Fonua-Blake have also been in sparkling form.

They take on Wayne Bennett’s Dolphins in Brisbane on September 2 before hosting a NRL semi-final for the first time since 2008.
