Footy hard man Mitch Robinson wanted to drink lots of beer after having his first pro boxing fight two weeks ago – and you won’t believe what he looks like now

  •  Former footy star played in the AFL at 90kgs

Former Brisbane and Carlton hard man Mitch Robinson has had a startling physical  transformation since having his first professional boxing fight.

The 34-year-old hard man announced his retirement from the AFL at the end of Brisbane’s 2022 campaign after being delisted.

Robinson has since channelled his energy into boxing and recently showed off his skills by upsetting more experienced opponent and former footy star Kayne Pettifer at The Gathering fight night on April 3.

The tough nut had a hard task in front of him in Pettifer, who boasted an unblemished record after three fights, but showed his natural ability to comfortably win the bout on the judges’ scorecards.

Speaking after the bout, Robinson explained he took the fight so seriously he didn’t touch a drop of alcohol for more than a month.

‘We’ll have a few beers,’ he said.

‘I haven’t had a drink for eight weeks so I’m keen for a beer, for sure.’

On Wednesday, two weeks after the bout, Robinson posted a shot of himself to social media – and it looks like he has stayed teetotal.

‘Well, just finished with the shredding phase!’ Robinson posted alongside of himself looking absolutely chiseled.

‘Tried cutting down to the lowest comfortable weight in 10 weeks without being stupid. 81kgs this morning!

‘Don’t know what’s next but keen for another type of challenge in the mean time.’

Robinson’s followers were blown away by his results.

‘You look in better shape now than when you played!.. surely mid season draft is the way to go,’ replied one follower.

‘Lean, mean fighting machine,’ said another.

‘Shredded but brah that that 8 packs is insane!’ wrote a third.

Robinson, who said he felt like he lost his identity once he finished up footy, has indicated that he’s definitely interested in stepping into the ring again.

‘I don’t know who’s in my weight division for the NRL, but AFL vs NRL, would make a good decision, I think,’ he said after the win over Pettifer.

‘I know I’d love to take on those boys, I know they’d probably gas a little bit earlier than us but they can pack a punch.
