Magpies grand final hero Josh Daicos has capped off an incredible off-season trip to Europe by paying a visit to Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou in London – where he revealed the similarities between the two sides.

The 24-year-old has been living it up with girlfriend Annalise Dalins since his Magpies won the flag and scored an invite to attend a training session with the Premier League table-topping Hotspur outfit.

After receiving a warm welcome and getting a Spurs jersey with his name on it from Postecoglou – despite the fact the manager is a huge fan of Collingwood’s old rivals, Carlton – the forward couldn’t help gushing over the experience.

‘It’s been really good to meet a few of the players and watch them train. Just seeing the facilities here, it’s probably by far the best venue I’ve been to,’ he said.

‘The way they cater for their players is quite amazing and you can see why they’re on top of their game at the moment.

‘Training is quite intense and you can see the attention to detail.

‘It’s very similar to us [Collingwood] in terms of splitting off into groups and focusing on individual needs.

‘We draw massive inspiration from these boys and to watch the likes of Sonny [Son Heung-min] and the rest of them go about it has been amazing.’

Postecoglou has proved a revelation early in the Premier League season after taking the top job at the north London club on the back of his stunning success with Celtic in Scotland.

His team currently sit two points clear at the top of the table after 10 matches, which is Spurs’ best ever start to a season in the Premier League era.

Tottenham’s 26 points from eight wins and two draws mean the Aussie has accrued the most points by a manager in their first 10 games in the competition’s history.

The club’s only better start to a season came in 1960-61, when they won the title.

Before visiting the Spurs and ‘Big Ange’, Daicos and Dalins visited Rome, the famed clifftop town of Positano on Italy’s Amalfi coast and the island of Capri in the Bay of Naples.

He then took in Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-1 Champions League victory over Milan at the Parc de Princes stadium in Paris, where he was joined by fellow AFL star Christian Petracca of the Melbourne Demons.

A trip to the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa was also on the agenda, along with a spot of fitness work on an athletics track a stone’s throw from the Eiffel Tower and incredible seats at France’s loss to England at the Rugby World Cup.

Meanwhile, Daicos’s brother and Pies teammate Nick has been taking in the sights in Greece, posting photos of his time on the country’s famous islands to his Instagram account.
