Ford Rangers and Everests recalled due to safety risk in Australia

  • Ford recalled 1,307 Everest SUVs and 3,534 Ranger utes
  • The cars were made between 2021 and 2023

Ford has issued a recall for almost 5,000 of its Ranger utes and Everest SUVs due to fears a software malfunction could seriously injure or kill owners.

A total of 4,841 vehicles are impacted by the recall in Australia, including 1,307 Everest models and 3,534 Rangers that were sold between 2021 and 2023.

‘Under certain circumstances, if the battery level drops below a critical threshold the transmission may shift into Park when the vehicle is travelling at speeds below 6km/h,’ Vehicle Recalls states.

‘This may cause a sudden stop without the rear brake lamps illuminating as intended.

‘[This] could increase the potential risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.’

Ford Australia will contact owners of the impacted vehicles to arrange the repair of the exit warning system at an authorised dealership, free of charge.
