Former 49ers and Bears star Robbie Gould retires from the NFL… 40-year-old kicker – who ranks 10th all-time in scoring – calls time on his career after 17 seasons

Robbie Gould announced his retirement on Thursday after 17 seasons in the NFL which saw him become the 10th highest points scorer in history.

The 40-year has amassed 1,961 points and 447 field goals during his time in the league, most notably with the San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears.

‘Although football has been a really great part of my life for the past 18 years, it is with the utmost regard and appreciation that I officially announce my retirement from the National Football League,’ he wrote on the Players’ Tribune.
