A former Arsenal player was rushed to hospital after the ball struck him in the face during a game on Saturday.

The 26-year-old had been hit in the face with the ball from close range.

The incident occurred as RWD Molenbeek were beaten 3-1 at home to Charleroi in the Belgian Pro League.

Molenbeek manager Yannick Ferreira stated that there were fears that the player had suffered a brain hemorrhage.

However, the player posted a positive update on Saturday night regarding his situation.

Jeff Reine-Adelaide collapsed on the pitch following the incident and was unconscious for ten minutes. 

Reine-Adelaide posted a positive message to fans on Instagram on Saturday night.

He wrote: ‘Thanks for your messages of support, more fear than evil.’ 

Reine-Adelaide’s former club Lyon sent their best wishes to Reine-Adelaide.

They wrote on X:  ‘Olympique Lyonnais is with you at this difficult time.

‘We wish you a speedy recovery, courage and strength to you.’
