According to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Galatasaray have signed Rodriguez on loan but negotiations continue over how his £5.2m-a-year wages will be split.

The Turkish club reportedly only want to pay a third of the salary but Al-Rayyan would prefer a 50/50 split.

Rodriguez has been in Qatar for the last 12 months, contributing five goals and seven assists in 15 appearances, following an underwhelming season at Everton.

Prior to his spell at Goodison Park, the midfielder won league titles with Porto, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich as well as two Champions League crowns with Los Blancos.

The other European club who the Colombian has featured for is Monaco, but he spent just a year in the principality before his performances at the 2014 World Cup – where he won the Golden Boot and Goal of the Tournament – earned him a £63million move to the Bernabeu.

Galatasaray are the most decorated team in Turkey with 22 league titles to their name, but finished 13th in the table last season.

Also set to sign for the Istanbul-based side on loan is PSG striker Mauro Icardi, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Argentine has been frozen out in Paris this season.

Former Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira and ex-Napoli forward Dries Mertens are among the other players to sign for the club this summer. The Turkish transfer window shuts tomorrow, September 8.
