Speaking to French magazine Madame Figaro, the singer and model talked about returning to the catwalk for Balmain and posing for one of YSL’s recent campaigns, confessing she feels ‘too old’ to model and felt strange’ about the fact she is old enough to be the younger models’ mother.

Carla admitted she has gone through therapy to address her fear of commitment, and considers her marriage to former French President Nicolas Sarkozy an ‘accomplishment.’

Bruni said she didn’t have a particular relationship with beauty, but that she prefers grace and charm over ‘pure beauty’

‘I have a silhouette and a style, perhaps, but I make unspeakable efforts to stay thin: two hours of sports per day, some barre, some elliptical bike, a little bit of Pilates.

‘Beauty is also an inconvenience,’ she added, saying she felt she was ‘destabilised’ by returning to modeling in campaigns for YSL and Balmain after a  lengthy break.

Carla, who also shares her son Aurélien with the French radio host Aurélien Enthoven added adults who behave well usually raise children who behave well.

She said her favourite qualities were kindness and generosity and that while she is a self-described mother hen, she does not want to control her children.

She said she tries to be a present mother for her children and to support them best she can.
