Former MasterChef stars decorate the new cast of Channel 10’s Dessert Masters 2024

Channel 10 have announced the cast of the new season of their hit MasterChef spin-off Dessert Masters.

The ten contestants have been revealed in a bubbly new trailer for the series which is set to hit screens later this year.

Fan favourite Melissa Leong, 41, will once again judge the delicious concoctions produced by the cooks alongside Amaury Guichon.

Each of the contestants can be seen in the teaser shared to the network’s Instagram account – and many will be familiar to Network Ten viewers.

Included in the cast of Dessert Masters this year is former MasterChef guest chef, Indonesian-born Christy Tania.   

The founder of Glace dessert stores, she’s a well-known kitchen master who has worked in Paris’ Ritz Hotel.

Also in the cast is two-time MasterChef contestant Emelia Jackson, who had to pull out of the spin-off’s debut season last year ahead of filming due to scheduling issues. 

She is now an author after appearing on the original hit cooking competition in 2014 and 2020.

Also featured is baker Dan Pasquali, who was runner-up in the Great Australian Bake Off in 2019.

Meanwhile, another MasterChef star, chef Darren Purchese, will be in the Dessert Masters kitchen this year as a contestant. 

He is the founder of the Burch and Purchese Sweet Studio and the platform Studio Kitchen.

Food blogger Alisha Henderson, whose online business Sweet Cakes boasts a whopping 228K followers, also joins the dessert gurus this season. 

Alisha is also co-founder of Melbourne event space Co.Bake.

Contestant Donato Toce is meanwhile famed as Gelato Messina’s Chief Creative Chef. 

The brand has 30 shop fronts in Australia and a single shop in Hong Kong. 

Melbourne-raised pastry chef Jana Lai also joins the cast of DM 2024. Jana is famed as an instructor at the Ecole Bellouet Conseil in Paris. 

Well known baker and pastry chef John Demetrios will also be battling it out with the dessert masters this season. 

John has worked for top eateries in Melbourne including Vue de monde.

Former MasterChef guest Katherine Sabbath is another familiar face joining the spin-off. 

The former teacher-turned food blogger and cake guru boasts 475K Instagram followers and is the author of three dessert themed books.

Rounding out the cast is cook book author Reece Hignell. 

Another MasterChef veteran, Reece founded the boutique eatery Cakeboi in Newcastle, NSW after rising to fame in the 2018 season of hot cooking competition. 

He joined the series again for the Back to Win season in 2020.

It comes after Gareth Whitton was crowned the winner of Dessert Masters last year.

He beat out fan favourites Jess Liemantara and Reynold Poernomo for the top honour. 

Gareth walked away with the title of Australia’s first-ever Dessert Master and $100,000 in prize money after a nail biting grand finale.

Debuting its first last November, the show was a success for Melissa Leong.

The 42-year-old was dumped as a judge on Masterchef Australia and moved to the new spinoff series, which performed well in the ratings.

The show scored 451,000 viewers who tuned in across all the major cities.
