Former Natwest boss Alison Rose welcomes regulator’s apology over Farage debacle

Apology accepted: Former Natwest boss Alison Rose

Natwest’s former boss welcomed an apology from the UK’s data regulator after it admitted to wrongly suggesting she broke privacy laws.

Alison Rose was forced out of her job after discussing the details of the bank’s relationship with Nigel Farage with a BBC journalist.

The former Ukip leader was debanked in July by Coutts, part of NatWest’s wealth management division.

Rose said she had ‘not even been aware of the existence’ of an investigation by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and had not been ‘asked any questions’ by the watchdog as part of the probe.

She added: ‘The ICO has now acknowledged that they did not find that I breached data protection law. I welcome the clarification and accept the ICO’s apology.’
