Former Today show weatherman Steve Jacobs reveals his biggest challenge during lockdown

Stevie Jacobs has had an interesting time navigating through Sydney’s lockdown.

The former Today show weatherman revealed that’s he getting back into surfing, relaxing at home, having beach days and spending time with his daughters Isabella, nine, and Francesca, seven.

But it’s with his kids where Steve, 54, discovered the biggest challenge of lockdown thus far.

‘Definitely homeschooling,’ he told The Daily Telegraph. ‘I’m an outdoors person and to be stuck in the house all day can be quite frustrating.’

‘Not to mention year three homework, which is much more difficult than I remember!’

On the plus side, Steve says the silver lining has been enjoying the outdoors with his children once school ends for the day.

‘(I like) afternoons at the beach or in a park playing with the kids,’ he said. ‘I find it incredibly important to get outdoors and enjoy a bit of fresh air and sunshine whenever possible.’

The TV presenter also took up surfing again after a 15-year hiatus for his recreational down time and adds weights and walks into his regime to keep fit and healthy.

Steve confessed that after ‘coming to terms with the loss of freedoms’ he’s pictured the lockdown with a more positive outlook.

‘Knowing we are all in the same situation and there is an end in sight is so encouraging. But it’s the funny things my kids do every day that keeps me laughing and makes me realise life is pretty good no matter what,’ he added.

Steve parted ways with Channel Nine in 2019 after being replaced as the Today show’s weather presenter by Tim Davies.

He currently hosts a breakfast radio show on 2UE.

Steve shares his daughters with his ex-wife Rose Jacobs, whom he split from in 2018.
