Four-year-old greets mom returning from business trip with ‘welcome home from prison’ sign

An Oklahoma mother returning home from a business trip got quite the welcoming when her four-year-old son and her husband greeted her at the airport with a ‘Welcome home from prison’ sign. 

Barbara Nielsen, of Muldrow, said she had spent a week in Michigan on a work trip.

Her husband, Brandon, decided to have a little fun picking her up from the Fort Smith Regional Airport so he grabbed a piece of cardboard and scrawled ‘welcome home from prison’ message on it for their son Daimen to hold.

Brandon told Good Morning America that he didn’t tell the four-year-old what the sign said. 

Barbara, who has never been to prison, said she rolled her eyes when she saw her son with the sign but thought it was funny.   

‘I was ready to smack my husband,’ she said. ‘It was cute when (Daimen) was holding it with that big, beautiful grin of his. I just looked at my husband and rolled my eyes and was like, really?’ 

Barbara, pictured on the right with her son and husband, said she thought the sign was hilarious 

‘Of course, everyone around us was smiling and giggling,’ she added. 

The hilarious photo, posted on Facebook by the couple’s friend Jessica Williams, has been shared more than 138,000 times and liked over 80,000 times.  

Barbara told 5 News that she has to leave again soon for another out-of-state business trip. Brandon said he is already brainstorming how he’s going to welcome her home.
