One is an American comedian and the other is related to a convicted drug smuggler.
But despite being worlds apart, The Nanny’s Fran Drescher and Mercedes Corby may converge in a series of uncomfortable challenges in next season’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.
The Daily Telegraph reported on Monday that Network Ten are looking for another big name with international appeal.
Are they heading into the jungle? The Nanny’s Fran Drescher and convicted drug smuggler Schapelle’s sister Mercedes Corby rumoured to be on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
‘Fran Drescher ticks all the boxes,’ a source reportedly told the news outlet.
‘She is a bullseye, if you like.’
The 60-year-old rose to fame after appearing on the 1990s US sitcom The Nanny and would join the likes of stars like Maureen McCormick, who played Marcia Brady in The Brady Bunch, to enter the jungle on TV.
Ten’s head of entertainment and factual programming Stephen Tate said: ‘This year’s cast are extraordinary and come from celebrity worlds we haven’t dipped into before,’ but no rumours about which celebrities involved have been put to bed yet.
Could it be? Mercedes Corby, who earned national recognition for her role in supporting sister Schapelle, may join the cast mates

A fortnight ago, clues revealed on I’m A Celeb’s Twitter page suggested Kyle Sandilands and Rove McManus may be next to enter the fray.
Rumble in the jungle? Could a cryptic I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! clue indicate Kyle Sandilands and Rove McManus will appear on the show in 2018?
‘In 2018, two Aussie icons in the middle of Australia’s biggest feud will be stuck living together in the jungle,’ the clue read.
Kyle especially is well-known for having longstanding show business feuds, including with David Campbell, Ernie Dingo and even Barnaby Joyce.
And fans were quick to acknowledge that fact, with one writing beneath the post: ‘Kyle Sandilands VS Literally anyone. #ImACelebrityAU.’
‘Australia’s biggest feud’: After sharing it via Twitter, fans flocked to the comments section to speculate who it could be referring to
Kyle’s feuds: Kyle especially is well known for having longstanding show business feuds, including with David Campbell, Ernie Dingo and even Barnaby Joyce
Another replied: ‘Kyle Sandilands and Rove ?(sic).’
They may have been onto something, given the 14-year-old beef isn’t just the KIIS FM star’s biggest, it’s also the most suitable for the Channel Ten show.
Both men still have strong ties to the network, Rove via his Roving Enterprises production company that produces The Project.
And, after being fired from Australian Idol in 2009, Kyle has rekindled with Ten this year, regularly appearing on daytime chat show Studio 10.
Biggest feud: One fan tweeted: ‘Kyle VS literally anyone,’ while another wrote: ‘kyle sandilands and rove ?’
Rove could fit in there! The 14-year-old beef isn’t just the KIIS FM star’s biggest, it’s also the most suitable for the Channel Ten show, with both men tied to the network
The only issue would be Kyle’s KIIS schedule, with the star usually returning from summer break in January and the show generally filming in February-March.
The show’s fourth season premiere date has not been announced however, nor has Ten confirmed whether the show will continue to film live elements.
Grant Denyer, would also fit part of the clue, as his hosting duties on Family Feud could be construed as him being at the centre of ‘Australia’s biggest feud.’
Radio woes: The only issue would be Kyle’s KIIS FM schedule, although Ten hasn’t announced the premiere date, meaning changes could be made to fit in with talent schedules
Grant? Grant Denyer, would also fit part of the clue, as his hosting duties on Family Feud could be construed as him being at the centre of ‘Australia’s biggest feud’
