Coventry City will evoke the spirit of 1987 as Frank Lampard faces former Chelsea and England team-mate Scott Parker in the Championship’s match of the weekend.

Fifty Sky Blues greats including FA Cup winners Steve Ogrizovic, Dave Bennett and Trevor Peake will be part of a Legends Day parade at the Ricoh Arena as Lampard’s play-off chasers face high-flying Burnley.

Coventry beat Spurs 3-2 at Wembley in the ’87 final on the most famous day in the club’s history and other heroes on show will include 77-year-old Tommy Hutchinson, regarded by many as City’s best-ever player.

Parker will have other things on his mind with Burnley in a pulsating chase with Sheffield United and Leeds for an automatic promotion place.

Lampard was alongside Parker when The Clarets manager made his debuts for Chelsea and England, and he’s not surprised his lunchtime rival went into management.

‘You often find certain players are interested in the tactical side and are more engaged in details you need to understand but others might find boring,’ said the Burnley boss.

‘There is definitely clear of the ones you will know will become coaches or go into coaching.’

Parker, who has won previously won promotion to the Premier League with Fulham and Bournemouth, says the secret is not to be distracted by results elsewhere.

‘There is no looking down the road for us or what others are doing. It is absolutely irrelevant,’ he maintained.

‘We keep bringing the best version of ourselves which we have done for large parts of the season. Our form suggests we should continue to do that, and the numbers suggest it as well.’
