French figure skater changes costume during Olympics

A French figure skater stole the spotlight when she changed her costume in the middle of her routine at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.

Mae Berenice Meite was competing in the single free skate program at the Gangneung Ice Arena on Friday when she whipped off her black skirt to reveal a pair of rainbow bedazzled shorts.

The 23-year-old began performing her routine to a slow song by 19th century pianist Frederic Chopin while wearing a sheer white bodysuit tucked into a black wrap skirt, before whipping the bottom half of her ensemble off to reveal a dazzling new look – perfectly timing it to match a spectacular change in music.

Unbelievable: In the middle of her routine, the 23-year-old switched out of her black mini skirt into rainbow bedazzled shorts and the internet was seriously impressed

Her long-sleeve leotard featured black cuffs with rhinestone baubles on the arms and on the bodice was a bedazzled button-down shirt with sequin stripes on the sides.

The backside of the one-piece was completely open as she had her bare back on full display.

On the tiny skirt was a striped buckle belt completely bejeweled with rhinestones while the peter pan collar of her top was also decked out in crystals.

After gracefully performing on the ice for eight seconds, Mae suddenly stops and takes apart her wrap skirt, pulling one side over and tucking it under her belt revealing her second look.

The second outfit was made up of bright gem-encrusted short-shorts that showed on one side of the skirt while the other was left covered up.

Her original outfit was pretty as it was but when she changed her look she added a pop of color to the monochrome outfit and it was perfect timing.

Just as she changed outfits, she gave the audience a little spin so everyone could see her new ensemble and then the music can be heard changing in the background.

As soon as the bold rainbow gem shorts made their debut the slow classical music was switched to something a bit more upbeat as the song Happy by French band C2C started to play.

Once Mae did a quick outfit change people were taking to Twitter to share their excitement over the fun little performance.

‘Mae Berenice Meite of France looking BOMB AS HELL out there,’ wrote one enthusiastic viewer.

One woman wrote, ‘I’m all here for Mae Berenice Meite’s mid-program costume change.’

Meanwhile other people were sharing what a good idea it was and one guy tweeted ‘Clever and classy,’ while someone else said, ‘Doing something different is always cool.

In one hilarious comment a woman wrote, ‘Love her creativity. She’s inspired me to have a costume change mid day at work tomorrow.’

Despite not winning any medals Mae definitely won over the crowd and her performance was brave and entertaining.

Mae’s been getting a lot of attention for her antics during the Olympics considering she’s been switching it up and surprising everyone whenever she gets on the ice.

She has been winning over the audience the entire Olympics and just the other day she performed to Run the World by Beyonce.
