From butterflied chicken to hommus and cheap yoghurt – here are the eight best products available at Aldi as voted by Aussie shoppers

Aldi customers have been voting for their favourite buys for 2023 from the supermarket – and the winners have now been revealed. 

The retailer announced the winners across eight categories at the annual People’s Picks Awards. 

More than 380,000 votes were cast by shoppers for their favourite must-have grocery items from a roast chicken to feed the whole family, to a stain-removing laundry detergent and some budget lunchbox snacks. 

There were a mix of returning winners and newcomers that made the number one spot across the categories. 

Taking out the BBQ Boss award was the Jindurra Station Porterhouse Steak 200g which is only $7 and perfect for those looking for quality meat for their summer barbecue without breaking the bank.

Earning the number one spot in the Life of the Party category was the $2.29 Deli Originals Fresh Traditional Style Hommus for the second year in a row.

The delicious and creamy dip was previously tipped as the best on the market in terms of taste and value for money by consumer researchers at CHOICE. 

Yoguri’s $2.29 Protein Yoghurt was hailed this year’s Good Health Hero as it’s not only high in protein but 99 per cent fat free. 

The Time Lord award named the best buy that is quick and easy to prepare and this year it went to Seasons Pride $4.99 Potato Gratin. 

ALDI Australia’s Shopping Expert, Kylie Warnke said the snacky sides have become a ‘staple’ in her freezer. 

‘Making potato gratin from scratch is a timely process with a lot of slicing and dicing and not to mention the clean-up,’ she said.

Di-San 1kg Laundry Soaker for $3.69 was voted as the winner of the Partner in Grime category. 

While this is the first time the brand’s Laundry Soaker has won a People’s Pick Award, other Di-San products have previously made the top spot. 

One new category in the People’s Picks was The Socialite in which the Ready, Set… Cook! Boneless Butterflied RSPCA-Approved Chicken at $9.99 per kg took home the most votes. 

‘The Socialite category is for the products that have been posted all over social media, receiving heart reactions, thumbs ups, and long comment threads across all platforms,’ Kylie explained.

‘It’s simple to cook, it can be put straight on the barbie or in the oven with no fuss and there’s always enough to feed the family.’

Specially Selected Australian Beef 21 Days Aged Eye Fillet Steak for $48.99 per kg was the winner of the other new category The Aussie Made Fave. 

‘This is what I pick up for a special occasion, when I want that steakhouse quality meal without the steakhouse price tag,’ Kylie said. 

‘This tasty cut of meat doesn’t need much prep, I like to coat mine in olive oil with some salt and pepper and grill on the barbeque for a couple of minutes each side.’ 

The Lunchbox Legend went to Snackers Market Colby Cheese and Rice Crackers for $3.99 for a pack of four.  

‘As a parent, I can completely understand the pain of pulling an untouched lunchbox out of the school bag at the end of the day, so this product has been declared a winner by parents and is sure to never be returned home untouched!’ Kylie said.
