From fear of bananas to a creepy cartoon character: The Clearing cast reveal their deepest terrors

The cast of Disney+ thriller The Clearing have laid bare their deep-seated fears – ranging from childhood wallpaper and feline friends, to… a banana.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia at the premiere, the cast didn’t hold back.

Kate Malvany revealed a unique phobia born from her battle with cancer in her youth, which left her hairless and intimidated by the Holly Hobbie wallpaper adorning her bedroom.

‘The cartoon character on the wall, with her luxurious hair, used to feel like she was mocking me,’ Malvany shared.

‘At night, it seemed as if she transformed into a hair-brushing monster. That wallpaper was my personal terror.’

House Husbands’ Gary Sweet, bringing the character of Wilkes to life in the series, declared his own peculiar fears: cats and bananas.

‘I’m allergic to both of them,’ Sweet confessed with a chuckle.

‘And believe it or not, bananas used to be my favourite fruit! The allergy hit when I was around 45, and I’m the same with cats. Plus, you know what else I’m afraid of? A lot of scary movies, despite knowing how they’re made.’
