The Block’s Sharon Johal is wasting no time shedding her high-vis after her tumultuous time on the show.
The 35-year-old former Neighbours star is set to take on a role as a brothel owner in Apple+ upcoming crime series Shantaram alongside Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam.
The upcoming series, which was filmed in Melbourne, launches October 14.

‘I am really proud to be a part of Shantaram. It was a compelling role, if conflicting,’ she told The Herald Sun this week of her new role.
‘I am going from playing a detective in the film to being a tradie on The Block and then a brothel owner in Shantaram,’ Johal said.
Sharon said the role required her speak and relearn the mother language of Hindi.

‘It is a different dialect in the slums. Finally I feel like, maybe, Australia gets to see the multifaceted personality that I have and the abilities that I have and I’d love to showcase that more,’ she added.
It comes after Johal broke down into tears after she failed to impress judge Shaynna Blaze and received the lowest score.
‘If any house would make me angry, it’s doing this to that beautiful house we walked through,’ Shaynna said as she toured the space.
‘It’s not a bathroom I’m feeling good in.’

Shaynna chastised the pair, saying they better do their homework on Victorian-era homes.
‘Are you going to treat [the house] like this? ‘Cause if you’re going to treat her like this, you’re going to have to deal with me,’ Shaynna continued.
‘They need to do some homework … really quick.’
Sharon was less than pleased with the criticism and broke down in tears. It came after scoring just 20.5 out of a possible 30.
Shaynna was less-than-impressed with the not so heritage look of Sharon and husband Ankur’s bathroom
