Fulham are negotiating a deal with Tottenham for out-of-favour midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as Marco Silva looks to add more Premier League experience to his side.

Hojbjerg is expected to leave Spurs before the transfer window closes on Friday and had also been linked with a late move to Manchester United.

Interest from the Red Devils sparked Atletico Madrid to re-open discussions with Spurs over a deal for the 28-year-old after initially pursuing the midfielder at the start of the transfer window.

The LaLiga side want to agree a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season, however Spurs are more inclined to secure a permanent transfer for the experienced professional.

Fulham hope to beat their Spanish competition to Hojbjerg’s signature and are ready to buy the player now rather than wait another year to do so.

Atletico Madrid have revived talks with Tottenham over a loan deal for Pierre Emile Hojbjerg

Tottenham signed the Denmark international in a £20m deal from Southampton three years ago under the guidance of former manager Jose Mourinho.

However, new boss Ange Postecoglou is willing to let Hojbjerg depart along with several other first-team starts including England international Eric Dier.

Spurs manager Postecoglou favours a midfield three of Yves Bissouma, James Maddison and Pape Sarr, meaning Hojbjerg has struggled to gain minutes so far this season.

He made his first start of the season in Tottenham’s second round Carabao Cup exit against Fulham on Tuesday that saw the visitors lose on penalties.

Hojbjerg has made 148 first-team appearances for Tottenham and looks set to bring an end to his career at the club before the transfer window closes.
