Furious mum gets her baby daughter’s ‘favourite’ teacher fired daycare parenting jealousy strange

Furious mum gets her baby daughter’s ‘favourite’ daycare teacher fired because she doesn’t like her cuddling her all day: ‘She’s obsessed with her’

  •  Mum sends baby to daycare four days per week
  • The baby’s teacher became ‘obsessed with her’
  • This obsession made mum feel uncomfortable

A mother has been labelled ‘jealous and manipulative’ after getting her eight-month-old daughter’s daycare teacher fired.

The mum explained the teacher was ‘obsessed’ with her daughter, who goes to daycare four days a week, and was always hugging and kissing her.

She felt uneasy for a while, but it wasn’t until the educator kissed her sleeping daughter on the head and said she would miss her, that she had had enough.

It was about the same time she heard the educator wouldn’t let any of the other teachers hold the youngster and called her ‘my baby’.

According to Kidspot the mum made a complaint against the teacher and asked for her to be moved into another room.

‘I could see her holding my daughter and kissing all over her face. Yes, my daughter was smiling and looked happy, but I was disgusted,’ she said.

The mother went into school the next morning and found out the teacher hadn’t been moved out of the room, but fired.

She was thrilled and bragged about it to her sister-in-law who said she had gone too far.

Did the teacher deserve to be fired?

  • Yes, she was being creepy! 13 votes
  • No, the mum overreacted! 17 votes
  • She should have moved rooms, or been told to ignore the baby! 14 votes

‘She said I overreacted, and I shouldn’t have complained about something so dumb. And that I should be grateful someone really loves my daughter.’

The sister-in-law had worked in child care through university and tried to explain it was normal to ‘have a favourite’.

And, like the family, the public has also been left divided by the story.

Some are firmly on the mother’s side.

‘Hugs yes kisses hell no. And fact she never let others have the child. I work in childcare and even to me that’s creepy,’ one woman said.

‘Obsession and talking of “possession by saying my baby and not allowing other carers to hold her” is NOT love and it’s completely unprofessional,’ another said.

‘I wouldn’t be thrilled I would of done the same thing as this mum has. She wanted to her relocated not fired. The child care has protocols and this worker didn’t follow them and clearly refused to listen so it’s no surprise she lost her job,’ said a third.

Others agree she should be grateful her child was so loved.

‘If the daycare provider is showing so much love, it should make the mom feel good about it. Especially if the baby is showing happiness, I am a daycare provider and I give the kids hugs. I think the mom was jealous over how much the baby was showing happiness towards the provider, it’s pretty stupid to fire someone over the love she shows the parent’s child, baby isn’t being abused,’ one woman said.

‘I’d be thrilled my baby was being shown loving, maternal behaviours while I wasn’t there and that my I was lucky enough to have a baby healthy enough to go to childcare to begin with. The baby is not going to remember that worker but they will have learnt that affection is important,’ said another.

Another said ‘owning’ a baby in the room isn’t unusual.

‘I used to work in childcare centres and I can tell you that everyone had their favourite child and didn’t like sharing. There were also things like ‘her baby’ referring to another worker and a child that were said to other workers, NOT in front of parents,’ she said.
