Gabrielle Union says she ‘doesn’t take notes rooted in anti-blackness’… as she shares slideshow of her AGT hair looks: ‘Unapologetically me’

  • On Thursday, Gabrielle Union shared a slideshow of her various hairstyles for America’s Got Talent
  • The star said this is ‘unapologetically me’ and that she ‘doesn’t take notes rooted in anti-blackness’
  • Variety reported last month that Gabrielle and Julianne had been fired from the show
  •  The female judges allegedly complained about an offensive joke by Jay Leno and Gabrielle had been told her hair was ‘too black’
  • The actress had a five hour meeting with NBC, who is investigating the claims

She had a five-hour meeting with NBC after she accused the show America’s Got Talent of racism and ‘toxic’ environment.

And on Thursday, Gabrielle Union shared a slideshow of all of her gorgeous looks while a judge on the show with a pointed statement in the captions.

The 47-year-old star said: ‘Unapologetically me. Be comfortable and confident with your a** self. It might give others the fluuuxxx but never stop being you. You can shine on your own terms. And if you got something to say,’ adding an emoji shrugging.

She continued with: ‘I don’t take notes rooted in anti-blackness. I love me as I am.’

The video showed several different red carpet looks, including a snap of herself curly tresses, short locks, voluminous hair, pulled back tresses and braids.

The slideshow had Beyonce’s song Flawless in the background.

The statement comes after Variety reported Gabrielle had expressed concerns about a joke guest Jay Leno made that was later edited out of the episode.

She raised concern over racially insensitive situations as well as her and Julianne being subject to ‘excessive notes’ about their physical appearances, the outlet reported.

Variety reported that both Gabrielle and Julianne received consistent criticism on hair, makeup and wardrobe.

She also received more than half a dozen notes criticizing hairstyles as ‘too black’ for the show’s core audience, according to four sources with direct knowledge.

Gabrielle was fired after just one season as a judge on the show, as was Julianne.

The star’s hairstylist Larry Sims shared the slideshow originally on his Instagram page.

Soon after the Variety report was published, Gabrielle’s husband Dwyane Wade too to Twitter to seemingly confirm the allegations and vocalize his support for his wife, calling her ‘an advocate for our community and culture’.

‘As proud as I was of her being selected as a judge on #AGT — I am even more proud of her standing up for what she stands for and that’s US,’ the Miami Heat shooting guard wrote.

NBC held a five-hour crisis meeting with Gabrielle and promised an investigation to ‘get deeper understanding of the facts.’

According to Deadline, an independent investigator will assess the claims made by Union.

Soon after, the star tweeted about the meeting: ‘We had a lengthy 5-hour, and what I thought to be, productive meeting yesterday. I was able to, again, express my unfiltered truth. I led with transparency and my desire and hope for real change.’

The Screen Actors Guild and American Federation Of Television And Radio Artists are also investigating her departure from the show.
