Game Of Thrones finale: Fans panic ending will be a massive letdown

Game Of Thrones fans are fearful Sunday night’s final episode will be a major disappointment as spoilers continue to circulate and the show’s star Sophie Turner confesses people will be ‘upset’ by the ending.

Viewers were seething during last week’s penultimate episode as they watched Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) become the ‘Mad Queen’ and murder thousands of innocent people in King’s Landing. 

And ahead of the hotly-anticipated final, social media is awash with comments from fans sharing their nerves as followers declare they aren’t ready to be disappointed.

‘Preparing myself to be disappointed tonight with the @GameOfThrones finale. Clutching pearls nervous as hell,’ one fan wrote, among the comments. 

Game Of Thrones star Sophie, who has played the heroine Sansa Stark throughout the series, warned a lot of fans will be left distraught by the ending of the HBO show.

She told The Sunday Times magazine ahead of the final: ‘It’s a great ending, from my perspective, it’s very satisfying.

‘But I think a lot of people will be upset too. I’ve just told [her husband] Joe. But he’s so mad at me – he loves the show!’

As well as fears they will be disappointed, fans have been panicking because spoilers have been leaked online and now are reportedly circulating via text message.

Deadline report that a text message is circulating online containing ‘several legitimate spoilers for last week’s show and an equal number of previews of the finale.’

These spoilers were first seen on a Reddit post that summarised each episode in the final series, including the yet to be seen episode six.

The post was later deleted by moderators, but was copied and widely circulated, including apparently now in text message form.

Fans fear the final episode spoilers could be accurate as the original post correctly summarised much of episode five’s plot points in advance of the airing.   

Whatever the ending, many fans are already preparing themselves for disappointment. ‘I just know the Game of Thrones finale will be disappointing and I’m not ready.’ One fan wrote online leading the troops.

Others reflected: ‘Not prepared for the Finale tonight #GameofThrones.’

Amid the drama ahead of the finale, Game of Thrones star Isaac Hempstead has hit out at the petition to remake the final series of the hit HBO show.

The actor, who plays Bran Stark in the series, branded the backlash ‘ridiculous’ and ‘absurd’ and told how he was ‘personally’ affected by the criticism. 

With just hours until the final ever installment of Game of Thrones, more than a million people have signed the Change.org petition entitled ‘Remake Game of Thrones Season 8 with competent writers’.

Hitting out at the petition, 22-year-old Isaac told Hollywood Reporter: ‘It’s just absurd. I can’t even fathom it. It’s just ridiculous.

‘It’s ridiculous that people think they can just demand a different ending because they don’t like it. I have stupidly taken it quite personally, which obviously I shouldn’t.’
