Games Workshop posts ‘record’ profit and revenue growth

  • Revenue grew to £247.7m, for 26 weeks to 26 November 2023
  • Operating profit rose to £94.5m over the same period

Games Workshop achieved ‘record results’ with both revenue and profits up at the half-year stage.  

The FTSE 250 miniature maker said revenue for the 26 weeks to 26 November 2023 was at £247.7million, up from £226.6million in the previous year.

The Nottingham-based Warhammer owner also told investors that operating profit over the same period rose to £94.5million, up from £83.6million last year.

The firm also declared a dividend per share of 195p over the period to be paid to shareholders.

In a statement, the group, said: ‘A solid six month period, successfully delivering the plans we set ourselves at the start of the year; with core revenue growth in all channels and in all major countries.

‘We have improved our core gross margin and managed our operating expenses well, only allowing essential investments. 

‘These record results are driven by the launch of a significant number of new products across all of our IPs and the ongoing performance of products we launched in previous periods.’

Last month Games Workshop struck a deal with Amazon to develop Warhammer 40,000 into films and television series.

In a deal being described by analysts as a ‘game changer’ for the firm, the tabletop game manufacturer said it would work with the tech behemoth for 12 months to ‘agree creative guidelines’ for prospective productions.

Amazon has also gained merchandising rights and a license to option the equivalent rights in the Warhammer Fantasy universe when the initial Warhammer 40,000 production is released.

Games Workshop shares fell by 2.30 per cent to 9,550p in morning trading on Tuesday.
