A Premier League triumph for Liverpool would be preferable to Manchester City completing the quadruple, admitted former Manchester United defender Gary Neville.
Pep Guardiola’s side have won the League Cup, reached the FA Cup final, sit second in the Premier League by two points with a game in hand, and play Tottenham in the Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday.
But, with Liverpool their rivals for the league title, Neville conceded that he would want the Anfield side to prevent his cross-city rivals from achieving the clean sweep.
Gary Neville admitted he did not want to see Manchester City complete the quadruple
Neville told Sky Sports Monday Night Football: ‘I’m not keen on Liverpool winning the league, but I am less keen on Man City winning the quadruple.’
The retired right-back, who clocked up 602 appearances while at Old Trafford, insisted he had nothing to smile about during the title run-in.
‘I’m not smiling, I’ve got nothing to smile about here!’ Neville declared.
‘I don’t think both teams will be perfect towards the end of the season. With the Champions League thrown in I just don’t think it will happen.
‘To be honest with you, I’m not sure about that in any way, shape or form, I honestly am not.’
Manchester City have already sealed their first silverware of the season with the League Cup
