Manchester United legend Gary Neville now feels it is only a matter of weeks before his former team-mate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is handed the permanent job at Old Trafford.

Solksjaer has done a stellar job since stepping in as caretaker manager to replace Jose Mourinho, and remains undefeated in the Premier League.

Since taking charge, Solksjaer has got United right back in the hunt for a top four finish, while accumulating more points than the two title runners Manchester City and Liverpool.

Gary Neville feels Ole Gunnar Solkjaer will be made permanent manager at the end of March

Speaking ahead of United’s second leg Champions League, to Viasport Fotbal, Neville told presenter and former Premier League player Jan Aage Fjortoft that Solskjaer had done enough.

‘He will. He’ll probably be the king and president of Norway as well,’ said Neville when asked whether he thought the former striker would get the job.

‘I can’t believe it what’s happened. I thought when he first came in it was just to reconnect the club with the fans, the players, keep everyone happy.

‘Just someone the club could rely upon to give good information to the board room and then they would appoint the best manager in the world.
