Gary Numan’s wife Gemma O’Neill rushed to hospital after her ‘heart went mad’ during Scotland getaway

Gary Numan has revealed his wife was rushed to hospital on Monday after her ‘heart went mad’.

The 80s popstar, 65, had been staying in Scotland with his partner Gemma O’Neill, 55, when she suffered the medical emergency.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, he shared a photo of Gemma, a former member of his fan club, in the snow.

He wrote: ‘Had to call an ambulance for Gemma yesterday as her heart went mad again. Spent the night in A&E near Stirling, Scotland having various tests done.

‘Don’t have a pic but she was wearing this outfit, shark onesie & moon boots (no jacket) & nothing else!!! Inconspicuous as always.’

It’s not the first time Gemma has suffered a health scare while on holiday.

In 2020, the pair recalled the moment her breasts ‘exploded’ during a camping trip.

The couple regaled the hosts of Good Morning Britain with the tale during an appearance on the show, speaking from their home in the states.

‘We were on a caravan trip and I just got the stitches out, and I turned to the kids and it split!

‘It did look like a shark attack and Gary had to hold it together!’

Gemma spoke candidly about her body image, and how she has always wanted to make changes to it.

‘I hate how I look, I always hate it. I was getting the fat sucked out when I was 22,’ she admitted.

Gary also spoke of his own dabbling with cosmetic procedures.

‘I’ve not had much, I’ve had my hair done but it’s Gemma that’s getting [stuff done],’ he said, before adding: ‘Do you know what she was doing while we were waiting [to go on air]?

‘She was taking pictures of her nose because that’s the next thing!’

Gemma was famously a fan of the singer before they eventually met and fell for one another.

‘I was just a normal fan. My dad works at a record company. I met [Gary] when I was younger, when I was maybe 12, and then we would meet in air shows and take pictures together.

‘Then when my mum died in 92 that was when we started talking properly.’

Gary said: ‘Normally I’d see her at every gig and I asked her where she’s been and she said that something had happened to her mum, so we got to talking and it was more than just “can I have your autograph?”‘

Gemma famously told her teachers it didn’t matter if she passed any exams because her life path — arm in arm with her pop idol, a regular on Top Of The Pops — was already set. She wrote to Jim’ll Fix It asking if he could fix their wedding.

They have three daughters, Raven, Persia and Echo, decamping from Britain in 2012, now living in Los Angeles, in a house which was built in the Nineties but modelled on a medieval castle.
