Gayle King has revealed that she remains close with disgraced newsman Charlie Rose as she opened up on becoming the $11 million face of the troubled CBS News network.

The CBS This Morning host said she was still in contact with her former co-host despite being devastated when Rose was fired in 2017 following a string of sexual misconduct allegations.

‘Charlie is not on my you’re-dead-to-me list,’ King revealed in a wide-ranging interview with the Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday.

‘I saw him about a month ago.’

King maintains she never lowered her morale following Rose’s departure or through the other CBS misconduct scandals involving company president Les Moonves and 60 Minutes producer Jeff Fager.

The 64-year-old became the face of CBS This Morning last month following a huge shake up at the network.

It included a new deal worth $11 million each year, which doubled her previous pay.

She had recently been lauded for her explosive sit down interview with disgraced singer R. Kelly and was named on Time’s 100 Most Influential People list.

‘I feel a lot of privilege,’ King said of her elevated position at the network.

‘I am now a part of that history. Let’s see what we do.’

King, who has long been known as Oprah Winfrey’s best friend, continues to experience an ever-growing profile with her work at CBS and socially given her friendships with the likes of Meghan Markle.

‘It’s a kick. There’s no question about it,’ she told the Hollywood Reporter of her stature.

She noted that Elton John congratulated her in March over her Kelly interview and that Amy Schumer unsuccessfully tried to get her to try marijuana and Ellen DeGeneres birthday party.

King also revealed in the interview that she doesn’t get to speak to her longtime friend Oprah as frequently anymore given the time difference between them and their work schedules. King lives in New York, while Oprah lives in Southern California.

King is now hosting CBS This Morning with co-hosts Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil.

Her prior co-hosts, Norah O’Donnell and Jeff Dickerson, left the program to take on other roles at CBS last month.

Ratings for CBS This Morning went up just a week after King took the helm.
