GBBO viewers love David Schwimmer while Jesy Nelson is savaged for pronouncing macaron wrong

David Schwimmer and Jesy Nelson competed on The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer on Sunday but viewers were left loving one over the other.

In the first round of the charity edition, actor David, 56, was branded a ‘legend’ by fans as he competed in the famous tent to raise money for cancer which has previously affected his family.

The Friends star admitted he had very ‘low expectations’ for his cooking skills as he ‘does not bake’ at home but David seemed to surprise himself throughout the show.

Competing against former Little Mix singer Jesy, comedian Rose Matafeo and actor Tom Davis, the celebs were tasked with baking six savoury pies, six delicious macarons, and a 3D meringue of a Celebrity fail scene.

After each round David came out on top winning every single challenge including the Star Baker award and managed to bag the coveted Hollywood Handshake from judge Paul Hollywood.

‘I do not bake on a day-to-day or year-to-year. My expectations are so low that I think I might do really well for myself.’

Fans couldn’t contain their excitement as he presented his show stopper before being awarded with his very own Stand Up To Cancer apron in recognition of his impressive culinary skills.

Even the official Bake Off social media account shared a post to ‘clarify’ the difference between macaroon and macaron.

While baking and rolling out her pastry, Jesy said: ‘How do I know what it is meant to look like?’

Prue said that ‘it doesn’t look like you know what your doing’.

The singer quickly replied: ‘This is my technique. This is awful your helping me. I was really hoping for the handshake but it isn’t going to happen is it’.

Later in the show while making her show stopper, Jesy admitted she had no idea how to separate eggs as she attempted to make a meringue.

The show marked the first in the latest series of the popular baking show, which aims to raise vital funds to help fund cancer research and support services, in the special celebrity edition.
