Gemma Atkinson returns to her day job after Strictly final

She may have missed out on being crowned winner of Strictly Come Dancing, but Gemma Atkinson was all smiles as she returned to her day job in Manchester on Monday.

The 33-year-old soap star, who also works as a morning host on Key 103 Radio, left the studio in athletic gear, while beaming broadly for the cameras.

The Emmerdale and Hollyoaks actress, from Bury, seemed like she had recovered well from Saturday’s dance final where each act had to perform three times.

Back to the grind: Gemma Atkinson didn’t seem too bothered by her defeat on Strictly Come Dancing as she went back to her normal routine leaving the Key 103 Radio studios in Manchester on Monday

The former glamour model showed her affinity for fitness as she donned some gym gear, showing off her strong calves.

She topped it with a grey hoodie and a black puffer jacket, with a backpack draped over one shoulder, and running shoes.

There was a bit of colour to her sporty ensemble as she wore a magenta New Era New York Yankees baseball cap.

During her time on Strictly, the soap star was embroiled in rumours about a possible one night stand with married TV chef Simon Rimmer, 54, also a Strictly contestant.

The Sunday Brunch chef laughed off reports of the supposed romance, as the pair joked about their upcoming ‘secret date’ on Twitter.

Posting on Twitter, he wrote: ‘Gemma is like a daughter to me and has become a friend of all my family. I think it’s funny’.

He went on to jokingly ask her: ‘Do you think we need to be quiet about our date on Weds with my wife and 23 of our friends Gem?’

And when one Twitter user asked if he could get an invite with his girlfriend, the talented cook quipped: ‘No it’s a secret date.’

On Saturday night, Holby City actor Joe McFadden took the coveted Glitterball trophy home after wowing judges with his incredible Viennese Waltz, scoring a historic 11 points, awarded by Shirley Ballas.

X Factor winner Alexandra Burke almost pipped him to the post, scoring 119 while Joe scored 118, with Debbie on 117, and Gemma trailing at the bottom on 114 points.

Joe, and dancing partner Katya Jones, who was on the show for the second time only, were left speechless when the winner was announced.
