Gen Z Aussies shock as they share their thoughts about conscription on The Kyle and Jackie O Show: ‘I already have my Taylor Swift tickets’

The possible introduction of a ‘citizen army’ to protect Australia in war time was the hot topic on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Wednesday.

And it appears that Gen Z Aussies are not too keen on the idea of being called up to fight if compulsory conscription was ever introduced.

KIIS FM’s Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson were left stunned as they listened to young callers who said they would much prefer to party than do battle for their country.

One male caller said he would ‘absolutely’ refuse to go if war broke out, mostly because his social calendar would not allow it.

‘My calendar is literally absolutely fully booked,’ the caller said.

‘I have got new seasons of Ru Paul’s Drag racing coming up, I have got Mardi Gras coming up, I have spent an absolute fortune! Look, Taylor Swift ’s coming up,’ he continued.

‘Yeah two words, Kyle & Jackie O. Nervous poo,’ added another caller.

Meanwhile, caller Stacey said she would ‘absolutely not’ go if called up and objected to the long hours that military service requires from recruits.

‘Look, you guys, I’m not a morning person and if I have to get up that early and don’t have time to do my hair and makeup and nails to all the lovely looking soldiers that are over there, no way in hell that is happening,’ she said.

Compulsory conscription would impact those aged between 18-40 and likely entail military service for a minimum of two years.

Jackie shocked Kyle when she announced that she would be willing to fight, if Australia was invaded.

The Australian government used conscripts to fight in World War II (1939-1945), and in the Vietnam War (1964-1975.).

Conscription was abolished by the Whitlam government in 1972.
