Gena Rowlands dead at 94: The Notebook star passed away at her California home after years-long Alzheimer’s battle

The Notebook star Gena Rowlands had died at age 94.

The two-time Golden Globe winner passed away at her Indian Wells, California home on Wednesday afternoon, TMZ reports.

She was surrounded by family, including her husband of 12-years, Robert Forrest, and daughter Alexandra Cassavetes, 58. 

With a Hollywood career that spanned seven decades, Rowlands is a decorated star of stage and screen.

She famously portrayed the Old Allie in the beloved 2004 romance drama The Notebook starring Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling.

No cause of death has been revealed but her son Nick Cassavetes, 65, previously disclosed that his mother had been battling Alzheimer’s disease.
