George Clooney ‘had plumbing disaster at their Lake Como pool ahead of Obamas arrival’

George Clooney was left panicked after a plumbing disaster left the pool at this £26 million Italian mansion ice-cold ahead of Barack Obama’s visit over the weekend.

The Hollywood actor, 58, and his wife Amal, 41, were awaiting the arrival of the former President of the United States and the former First Lady when they came to the shock realisation that the pool at their Lake Como residence was half full and freezing.

Eager to impress their high-profile pals during their summer European getaway , George asked his bodyguard Giovanni to call the local plumber Dante Pennè – who later detailed the pandemonium he was met with when he visited the property.

Oh no! George and Amal Clooney was left panicked after a plumbing disaster left the pool at this £26 million Italian mansion ice-cold ahead of Barack Obama’s visit over the weekend

Dante was roped in at the last minute to fix the problem at hand before the Obamas made their arrival.

Speaking to Corriere Della Sera newspaper of his encounter with the Hollywood star, Pennè explained: ‘What a race, I arrive and they are all upset. Giovanni says to me “hurry up, hurry up!”

Unaware at the time as to who the Clooneys were expecting, the plumber admitted he quipped back: ‘Let me work, otherwise I won’t be able to fix it.’

Dante’s talents were put to good use and within a few minutes he was able to sort and drain the thermometer.

He revealed he was awarded for his efforts with a selfie with the ‘worried’ Ocean’s Eleven star – who he noted was clad in a sweaty Casmigos t-shirt.

And George certainly seemed happy and relaxed as he was spotted enjoying a relaxing boat ride with Barack near his mansion in scenic northern Italy on Sunday.

The former leader of the free world and Clooney looked to be heading to some formal event as they were wearing suits without ties.

They were likely on their way to a charity dinner for The Clooney Foundation for Justice, Hollywood Life reported.

The foundation, founded by the Clooneys, is devoted to marginalized communities who have fallen victim to human rights abuses.

Drawing on Amal’s expertise as an international human rights lawyer, the foundation monitors world governments who use their legal systems to persecute political enemies.

The 57-year-old former president; his wife, Michelle, 55; and their two daughters, Sasha, 18, and Malia, 20, are in Lake Como visiting the former ER heartthrob and his glamorous wife at their Villa Oleandra in Laglio.

Their European vacation began last week when they landed in France and spent time on the French Riviera with good friends Bono and The Edge.

The foursome travelled to Avignon by private jet, just days after Sasha graduated from high school in front of her proud parents and her older sibling.

From France, the Obamas flew via private jet to Italy, where they stopped in Milan.

The governor of Laglio has decreed that fines of 500 euros ($565) will be in place for any vessel or vehicle approaching within 300ft of the Villa Oleandra, which is usually accessible to the public unlike typical A-list properties.

The Obamas took their private jet to Milan from Provence where they are believed to have been staying at a $60,000-a-week villa in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine region.
