George Michael’s housekeeper ‘let fans tour home’

Lawyers are probing claims that George Michael’s housekeeper allowed fans to tour his home in Goring, Oxordshire

George Michael’s lawyers are looking into claims that his housekeeper of 17 years allowed ‘ghoulish fans’ to tour his home.

Two fans of the late singer claim Nu Findlay, 59, allowed a woman to go into the cottage where he died in Goring, Oxfordshire, during a street party and memorial concert on June 25.

Sharron Thomas and Paul James, who have set up Facebook pages in memory of the Wham! star, claim Ms Findlay had also received gifts from fans and that they received online abuse when they questioned the housekeeper’s actions.

Mr James, 48, from Newbury, told The Sun: ‘I saw a female fan going into the cottage. I thought it was inappropriate.’

But when he raised concerns on his Facebook page, Mr James claims he was met with a backlash.

In a post from last month, he wrote:  ‘People can believe what they want about me…Have nothing to hide and I am not going anywhere x’

Meanwhile Ms Thomas wrote to George’s sister, Melanie Panayiotou, about her concerns, and said she subsequently received a response from the family’s solicitor.

The 47-year-old admin worker from Suffolk said: ‘He said he was shocked if we have been treated in a disrespectful way — and George would be horrified by what’s happened. He said he would investigate everything fully.’

The celebratory event on June 25 was organised by friends and neighbours, including Ms Findlay, to coincide with what would have been George Michael’s 54th birthday.

Following the concert and street party in Goring, her brother and photographer Ian Findlay, wrote a post on Facebook praising the ‘touching’ event.

He said: ‘My wonderful sister, Nu (who worked for George for 16 years), organised an amazing all-day birthday party for George Michael and his fans outside his Goring home yesterday.

‘It was very touching to see so many of his fans from all over the world coming together to celebrate this special day and also to mark 6 months since his untimely passing.’

Speaking to The Sun, Ms Findlay denied she had allowed any fans into George Michael’s house.

George Michael was found dead by his boyfriend, Fadi Fawaz, on Christmas Day, 2016.

Police were originally called to the former Wham singer’s home in Goring-on-Thames just before 2pm and later said that they were treating the 53-year-old’s death as ‘unexplained but not suspicious’.

Darren Salter, Oxfordshire’s senior coroner, eventually decided there was no need for an inquest to find the cause of his death because ‘there is a confirmed natural cause of death, being dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver’.

The pop-star, whose hits included Last Christmas and Freedom, had suffered health scares and fought drug addiction for years.

While enjoying a glittering career, Michael had endured a turbulent personal life and nearly died from pneumonia while on tour in late 2011.
