Female boxer Georgia O’Connor has tragically died at the age of 25 following a battle with cancer.

O’Connor was diagnosed with an ‘rare and aggressive’ form of cancer in October 2024 that was deemed ‘incurable’ by doctors.

It was confirmed on Wednesday morning that the talented fighter from County Durham has now passed away.

O’Connor’s passing comes just under two weeks after she got married. Posting about her special day on Instagram, O’Connor shared a photo of her wedding ring alongside the caption: ‘09.05.2025. The day I married the love of my life.’

That was her final post on Instagram.

O’Connor shone during a stellar amateur career that saw her win gold at the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2017.

She also claimed a silver medal in the 2017 World Youth Championships, before earning a bronze in the same tournament the following year.

The middleweight contender turned professional in 2021 and amassed an unbeaten 3-0 record prior to her cancer diagnosis.

She fought on the undercard of former world champion Savannah Marshall back in April 2022 in her home city of Newcastle.

Her final fight came on the undercard of Marshall’s huge grudge match with Claressa Shields in October 2022 when she outpointed Joyce Van Ee.
