Germaine Greer questions whether Meghan Markle is ‘faking’ her love for Prince Harry and says their showbiz wedding was ‘not real’ – as she launches brutal attack on the royals

  • Germaine Greer, 81, has slammed Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s marriage
  • Feminist made the comments speaking to Australian broadcaster 60 minutes
  • Claimed their wedding was ‘terrible’ because it was full of showbiz personalities
  • Added it suggested Duchess of Sussex ‘lived in a completely artificial world’

Controversial ‘second wave’ feminist Germaine Greer has launched a brutal attack on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The 81-year-old questioned whether Meghan Markle, 38, has been ‘faking love’ with Prince Harry, 35, and also cast doubt on how true their marriage has been.

‘All I can think is she’d better be in love. If she’s been faking it all this time, oh boy, what misery,’ she said, speaking to Australia’s 60 Minutes. ‘How many orgasms will it take? How many fake groans will get her through this?’

The outspoken writer went on to slam the couple’s star-studded wedding in May 2018 – which was flooded with famous faces including Oprah and George and Amal Clooney – as ‘terrible.’

‘The marriage was terrible too, because it was full of showbiz personalities, as if Meghan lived in a completely artificial world,’ she explained.

‘The whole point about showbiz – it’s not real, and it won’t sustain you.’

The claims come just days after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a trip to Miami where Prince Harry spoke at a JP Morgan ‘billionaire’s summit’ at a luxury five-star hotel in Miami.

It’s thought the two could have earned up to $1 million for the gig – during which Harry spoke about his mental health and therapy.

Until the trip, the couple had been holed up with their nine-month-old son Archie at a $14 million waterfront Vancouver Island mansion after announcing their bombshell news that they would be ‘stepping back’ as ‘senior royals’ in early January.

Meanwhile, a source previously told US Weekly that more than two years after giving up acting to marry Prince Harry, Meghan has been ‘actively looking’ for a manager or agent for future projects.

Meghan quit her role in the US legal drama Suits in 2017 after becoming engaged to the Duke of Sussex and joining the Royal Family as a working member.

The source said: ‘Meghan is actively looking for representation. She has begun outreach.

‘It can be a manager or an agent, but she’s reaching out to people to find someone to represent her for future professional projects.’

There has already been some indication that a return to her former career is on the cards for Meghan as the mother-of-one looks at various avenues for income.

She has already signed a voiceover deal with Disney in return for a donation to an elephant charity.

And in a moment that certainly raised eyebrows, the Duchess joked that she and Harry attended the premiere of The Lion King in London, to ‘pitch’ for work, footage from the 2019 event revealed.

The Duke was also filmed touting his wife’s voiceover skills to Disney boss Bob Iger at the occasion in July.
