German backpacker, 28, goes missing in chilling echo of Theo Hayez’s mysterious disappearance – as the tourist’s final moments before he vanished are revealed

A desperate search is underway for a German backpacker who went missing from a gym in Perth.

Andreas Karl Wacker was last seen filling up his car with fuel on Chalgrove Avenue and Read Street in Rockingham in Western Australia about 6.55pm on Wednesday. 

The 28-year-old has not been in contact with family or friends in several days which is described as out of character for him. 

He is believed to be without a mobile phone.

Mr Wacker has not been in contact with family or friends and there are concerns for his well being

Mr Wacker is approximately 180-185cm tall, with a medium build, an olive complexion, brown hair and blue eyes. 

He was last seen wearing a brown, maroon, yellow and orange check shirt.

He speaks German and some English. 

Police believe he is driving a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder Station sedan, registration 1BSY613.  

Mr Wacker’s disappearance comes a week after the search Belgian backpacker Theo Hayez was suspended.

The 18-year-old was last seen leaving the Cheeky Monkey’s bar in Byron Bay about 11pm on May 31.

Belgian police had been working alongside Australian detectives in Theo’s hometown to help piece together the teenager’s last movements.

Theo’s mother Vinciane Delforge has also arrived in the country to help search for her son, and will join his father Laurent Hayez and dozens of locals who refuse to give up the search.

Mr Hayez previously vowed not to return home until he found his son.
