WHAT TO DO

For a full-body workout, celebrity personal trainer Nadya Fairweather (u-shape.co.uk) recommends a weighted single arm squat to shoulder press.

Set your timer, to do eight rounds of 30 seconds. Hold a heavy weight (2kg minimum) in your left hand, right hand on your hip. Allow the weight to hang in the middle as you squat, then press over your head as you stand. Do as many reps as you can for 30 seconds. At every beep, switch from your left to right hand.

Stand straight when legs straight; when squatting keep chest lifted, back straight and bum out.

Do as many reps as you can in the full four minute blitz.

WHAT TO EAT

Your diet can also help to tone your body for summer, says nutritionist Lola Biggs (togetherhealth.co.uk).

Peppermint is fantastic for aiding a healthy digestion and beating bloat thanks to compounds that promote muscle contractions in the gut. Take a probiotic — live bacteria that help build up healthy gut flora. Natural, Greek style yogurt is a great way to get this into your diet. It’s also full of protein so will help keep your blood sugar levels steady and you fuller for long.

Spices like ginger and fennel contain compounds that stimulate digestion and relieve gas. You can add grated ginger to meals, or just pop it into a cup of hot water with lemon.
